Be aware that this is not a gallery that is welcoming! As a collector of works of art I visited this gallery with my partner and a friend. The current exhibition is devoted to the work of Leon Morrocco; an artist who interests me because I collect his father’s work.

Sadly a member of staff, whom I believe to be a Director, was staggeringly rude. Whilst we were discussing a painting, she approached us in an abrasive manner and dismissively told us to “pipe down”.

Ironically our friend had expressed reservations about visiting such establishments, as they can often seem intimidatory… Unfortunately, our visit to this venue merely confirmed her belief. Shameful!

Great location just a few minutes' walk from the centre of town in a Georgian building close by the childhood home of Robert Louis Stevenson. The other independent galleries in Dundas Street are just turned the corner. On my most recent visit, there was a show of recent works by Barbara Rae, Henry Kondracki, John Bellany, and others. Always worth a visit to see Scottish contemporary art.

The gallery is listed on the international art festival (IAF) site, but when I tried to visit today the door was locked and a note saying "prearrangement". The IAF site said limited walk-in possible, as the nearby Arusha Gallery, which I visited no problem at all. Disappointing!

Always make sure I visit the gallery when I come to Edinburgh, a big fan of many of the artists they exhibit. The staff are delightful and welcoming and I have a few pieces from them that I treasure greatly.

Fantastic well lighted space for art in the heart of Edinburgh. Staff are friendly and informative, some of the most interesting artists in Scotland exhibit here.

This gallery has regular exhibitions of Scottish and other artists together with a large stock of prints lithographs et cetera. Well worth a visit well you may find something you can't resist
