I had an enjoyable and relaxing three months in Somos. It was a time to reflect on the values I should be striving for.

Participating in SomoS Arts program in June and July 2023 was truly transformative for me. After feeling exhausted from my pursuit of a singing career in New York, I made the decision to take a much-needed break and journeyed to SomoS. What unfolded surpassed all my expectations and breathed a freshness into my artistic path.

The atmosphere at SomoS was nothing short of invigorating, fostering an environment of support and creative exploration. It was there that I found myself immersed in a vibrant community that embraced diversity and collaboration with open arms. This experience became a catalyst for me to rediscover my artistic identity in ways I hadn't imagined.

Little did I know, the conclusion of the program would mark the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Following its conclusion, I discovered that my next creative home would be in Berlin. Without hesitation, I took the leap and relocated there a month and a half later.

Reflecting on my time at SomoS fills me with gratitude for the growth and inspiration it provided. It was more than just a program; it was a stepping stone towards realizing my artistic potential and finding my place within a thriving creative community.

During the SomoS virtual residency, I had the opportunity to meet with numerous Berlin-based arts professionals and artists from around the world. Right before the residency, I had begun preparations for my first outdoor, public exhibition in NYC. The SomoS community supported my project by offering insights on ways to display work in public spaces, and helped me communicate my ideas clearly in my exhibition statement. Because SomoS is well-regarded in the art community, artists can apply for outside grants to cover residency costs, and they provide any documentation you need in order to apply for grants. Thank you, SomoS, for this opportunity, and I hope to experience SomoS in person someday!

As a contemporary practitioner of the arts in India I was very keen to explore and immerse myself in Berlin's thriving art scene as well as it's architecture, design and cuisine which got me to SomoS last year - a residency and creative hub with very carefully curated roster of artists of all kinds. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience interacting with artists and the very warm and welcoming founders of the residency. We had frequent visits and interactions with local artists, curators as well as critique sessions in house. The space is large, thoughtfully designed and gave me a lot of emotional space to think and create. Not surprised that I am back here again for the second time and already planning my next visit.

Beautiful space co-created and run by one of the greatest human I ever found myself working for. A great launching pad for those young artists who are willing to be introduced to Berlin emerging art scene and enhance their network, in a participative yet very professional atmosphere.

A wonderful, community art space. There is always a diverse program showcasing work from across the globe. Somos holds space for practitioners at all levels and in all mediums. A fantastic gallery worth checking out!
