Friendly staff! Appreciated the coffee delivery at 7am; breakfast starts at 8. We reported a plumbing problem one morning, and they fixed it before we finished the very tasty breakfast. Our room was in a fourplex near the main building. It has a beautiful common area that invites conversation with other travelers. The main building’s common areas are less attractive, with some outstanding art spoiled by proximity to just the awfullest kitsch. All of it for sale, at prices so high the owners should be embarrassed. Ask about the Mongolian gur, interesting story.

Very lovely one-night stay in Wren's Nest. Not sure how warm the room would have been if it had been colder because the baseboard heaters no longer work and there's a range of heating devices. We sampled dinner. It was like eating a home-cooked meal: well-rounded and well prepared. Dani was a delight. There's a nice wine menu to choose from. Breakfast was solid; however, it's whatever the kitchen is cooking so you don't get to customize. For example, I would have enjoyed a side of toast with the chicken hash. Fruit juice? There are lovely walking trails accessible from the lodge. The main lodge offers seating and a fireplace.

Our second visit to this wonderfully relaxing lodge. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Front patio is a great places to take in the expansive views, and listen and watch the ravens nearby. The restaurant features original, tasty meals. Worth the price! Bear Mountain Lodge is a great place to escape.

Buyer Beware!! Horrible customer service!!! Selfish, Smug, Dismissive, Inconsiderate, Unaccommodating, Greedy||I contacted Bear Mountain Lodge to cancel our reservations immediately after I suffered a near fatal car accident on Labor Day at least a week prior to our arrival. I was told by someone over the phone that I would be given a refund due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the abrupt cancellation. I never received the $539 refund on my credit card. I called to ask for my money back and was told they had a strict policy on cancellations and instead of giving me my money back they tried to offer a Gift Certificate or donation to a Charity!!! Unbelievable and unacceptable customer service!!! If this is how New Mexico treats tourists, patrons and clients in the hotel industry, I would highly suggest making alternative reservations!! I have traveled all over the world and have never experienced the dismissive, smug, and arrogant attitude from a hotel owner surrounding a reimbursement of funds. This hotel/lodge basically stole our hard earned money and did nothing to earn it. We are super upset and will never book a reservation at this hotel. Buyer beware!!!

The Bear Mountain Lodge was everything I wanted for my retreat - fresh mountain air, serenity, and good food. I was surrounded by historic architecture and design, and great art. My private room was downstairs and featured a huge well-appointed bathroom as well as a private porch. The daily breakfast was delicious and they even served me breakfast in my room on my birthday. The dinner menu was delicious. I even hosted a dinner on my birthday for two local friends. The staff was not only friendly but they went above and beyond to make my birthday retreat a very memorable occasion.

Lovely, peaceful weekend trip. Everyone was very pleasant and kind. Including the owners. We feel in love with momo the cat. Followed us everywhere. Heard some creepy noises in the room as well as boots walking around in the middle of the night on the roof.

Excellent stay in the bluebird suite. The grounds are impeccable with art sculptures all around. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They even packed us an early breakfast to go for our adventures that day.
